New Town Council Mayor announced

At its Annual General Meeting held on 20 May 2025, Sheringham Town Council elected Councillor Sue Brisbane as the new Chair of the Council and Mayor of Sheringham. She succeeds Councillor Peter Ratcliffe, who steps down after four years of service as both Chair of the Council and Mayor.  Councillor Madeleine Ashcroft was elected as Vice Chair and Deputy Mayor.

Cllr Ratcliffe said:

“It has been a privilege to serve this council and the residents of Sheringham over the past four years. I am delighted that Councillor Brisbane has been elected and I offer her my full support.”

Cllr Brisbane has lived in Sheringham with her family since 2004 and retired after a 30-year career in education, including as a senior manager. She is known locally for her commitment to fairness, equality, and environmental responsibility.

Speaking following her appointment, Cllr Brisbane said:

“It is an honour to be elected Mayor of Sheringham. I look forward to working with fellow councillors, local organisations, and residents to build on the Council’s work in recent years. I remain passionate about ensuring the community has a say in shaping the town’s future, protecting vital services, and continuing to address the climate emergency through meaningful local action.”

Councillor Brisbane thanked Councillor Ratcliffe for his leadership and service to the community.
