A poll for the election of a County Councillor for Sheringham will be held on Thursday 7 May 2026, between the hours of 7:00 am and 10:00 pm.
The number of County Councillors to be elected is one. Full details of all candidates and polling stations are on the attachment.
A vacancy has arisen in the Office of Councillor for Sheringham Town Council (South Ward).
If by 27 March 2026 (14 days excluding Dies Non, after the date of this notice) a request for an election to fill said vacancy is made in writing to the Returning Officer at the address below by TEN electors for the said Town Ward, an election will be held to fill the said vacancy, otherwise the vacancy will be filled by co-option.
Where a written request for an election is being made, the signatures of the ten electors should be accompanied by the printed names and addresses, so that the Proper Officer can check the
validity of the request. If an election is called, it will take place not later than 4 June, 2026.
If an election is not requested, the Parish Council will fill this vacancy by co-option.

Statement – Transport HUB
Following Sheringham Town Council’s decision not to support the demolition of the bus shelter, Norfolk County Council have now ceased work on Otterndorf Green and their project will not continue. The funding allocated for the Sheringham Travel Hub was specifically intended for improvements to public transport infrastructure and this included the widening of the pavement at the bus stop. The retention of the shelter means this is no longer achievable.
The remainder of the scheme was for public realm improvements tied in with the Travel Hub, and that alone does not qualify for the funding.
In terms of the bus services, Norfolk County Council and Sanders have confirmed that the Wells and Holt-bound buses will continue to stop at the bus stop opposite Tesco whilst the overall situation is reviewed. Therefore Otterndorf Green is not currently operating as a bus stop.
We will now need to consider how we take this site forward. There is unlikely to be any update until after the Christmas period.

The local community have helped shape the design for a new travel hub in Sheringham, following a public consultation held earlier this year. Revised plans released by Norfolk County Council show an updated design for the area including a new-look bus shelter, with additional green spaces and seating.
Addressing one of the key concerns of residents, NCC have changed the design of the bus shelter to blend with the historic surroundings including adding architectural features from the North Norfolk Railway Building Local artist Colin Seal will be working with school children in the area to produce new artwork for the new shelter.
The new design includes more space for planting and biodiversity and Sheringham in Bloom will oversee the planting and maintenance of all green spaces, and the Sheringham Museum will develop an interactive timeline of the town’s history that will be etched into the paving.

Norfolk County Council, HEREBY GIVE NOTICE that to facilitate the Sheringham 1940s Weekend, they intend to make a Traffic Order, the effect of which will be to temporarily restrict vehicular traffic on the U11446 Church Street from junction to Station Approach U10153 to Station Road U11445.

Approach between 3.30pm and 5pm only on 21 September) in the PARISH OF SHERINGHAM.
The Order will come into effect on 20 September 2025 and will remain in force for 38 hours and 45 minutes. The road will be temporarily restricted (except for emergency and pedestrian access) on from 20 September 2025 at 9am to 21 September 2025 until 11.45pm. Restrictions on traffic will only be enforced until normal traffic flow can be maintained.
Where appropriate during the period of the closure, temporary suspension of existing permanent Traffic Orders may be imposed.
