Expressions of Interest invited– SCAP

‘On behalf of the Sheringham Community Art Project, (SCAP), Sheringham Town Council would like to receive expressions of interest from any businesses interested in the supply of the following services:

  1. Professional architectural and structural engineering services to support the installation of a wooden embossed structure to a promenade wall. The value of services is circa. £2000.00
  2. Purchase of 240-volt hand power tools, (drill, sander, chop-saw, etc), and associated consumables, paint and hand tools. The value of the equipment and consumables is less than £3000.00
  3. Provision of scaffold access to enable safe access for the painting of murals in some shelters along the East Promenade. The value of services is circa £500.00

The Sheringham Community Art Project, (SCAP) is about the creation of new murals which promote Deep History Coast themes along the East Promenade in Sheringham including:

  • East Prom murals will feature DHC themes including a flint-knapper and a stone age village.
  • One of the East Prom murals will include a wooden embossed structure of the West Runton Mammoth; the intention is for this to be a life-size sculpture.

Friday Socials… Come join the fun

Sheringham Community Centre will be the hub for a series of bi-weekly Friday Social events, starting from 17th February 2023. 

This joint initiative is being run by Sheringham Town Council and Sheringham Little Theatre with the aim to bring, fun, connectiveness, and Community spirit to the Town of Sheringham. 

Town Clerk, Sarah Peberday said – “The sessions are open to all – couples, families, single people – we want to provide something every other Friday which enables people across Town and beyond to socialise for a couple of hours.  Refreshments will be provided at all sessions; each session will have a different activity.” 

The first session on 17th February is a “Prize” Bingo session between 1:30 and 3:30pm, followed by a Quiz afternoon on 3rd March and Tea Dance on 17th March.  Future events planned are a Game Show afternoon, Coronation Party and a Plant swap. Entry is free – with refreshments on a “pay what you can” basis.

Community ‘Thank you’ Awards – Pop-up stall

Sheringham Town Council members are out and about on Saturday 4th February taking your nominations for this years Community ‘Thank you’ Awards.

There will be a pop-up stall at the Clock Tower on Saturday afternoon, where you can nominate a volunteer whose volunteering you believe enriches our community.

If you can’t make it on Saturday, you can nominate using our online form.

Closing date for nominations is Monday 6th March.

The Annual Parish Meeting is not a Town Council meeting, but a meeting of electors where the Chair/Mayor and other Town Council members provide reports and updates about our community. Attendees can make comment on any agenda item and questions are welcome. All Sheringham residents, community groups & organisations are welcome and encouraged to attend.

Community ‘Thank You’ Awards 2022/23

Make your nominations now…

We want to acknowledge and thank the many people in our Town who volunteer their time to make a difference to the lives of people who live here.

You could nominate a volunteer at a club that you or your child attends, a neighbour, someone who volunteers to improve the local environment, someone who has raised money for a local charity, a voluntary group or not-for-profit organisation or any other person whose volunteering enriches our community.

Nominees must be unpaid, live or volunteer in the Town and their voluntary work should benefit residents of Sheringham.

We encourage nominations for children and young people as well as adults.

Everyone who is nominated will receive a certificate of thanks from the Council.

Closing date Monday 6th March 2023

May Elections 2023

From 4 May 2023, voters in England will need to show photo ID to vote at polling stations in some elections.

This will apply to:

  • Local elections
  • Police and Crime Commissioner elections
  • UK parliamentary by-elections
  • Recall petitions

From October 2023 it will also apply to UK General elections too

Sheringham Town Council has been working with Norfolk Adult Learning following the success of the Slow cooker course held in November and will be hosting some more courses in the new year.

Armistice day and Remembrance Sunday

On behalf of Sheringham Town Council I would like to thank all the people who helped to commemorate this year’s Armistice Day and remembrance Sunday. For the first time in three years residents were able to march behind Piper Jacob Millin, setting off from the Salvation Army up to the War Memorial in town.

Alan Daniels organised the March and the parade as well as ensuring that all the wreaths were laid. Brownies and Scouts read out the names of all the people who are commemorated on our war memorial and of course we also took the opportunity to remember those who had been lost in the later conflicts during the Falklands and Iraq.

The service was conducted by the rector of Saint Peters Church.

How lucky we are in our town to have so many people who are willing to help to make such an occasion memorable for all of us. A special mention for the members of the carnival committee who made sure the roads were safe for us and for the music from the Members of the Salvation Army band.
